Our Interview with Rory Beca

Look out brides to be! There is a new designer in town! We are THRILLED to have Rory Beca as part of the Bella Bridesmaids family. This cool Cali-based designer is all about keeping you comfortable while still feeling sexy. What's not to love?!

Rory joined forces with Los Angeles based celebrity wedding planner, Yifat Oren, to create MAID by Yifat Oren for Rory Beca. Yifat has been the go to planner for all the A-list celebrites including Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Anne Hathaway, and most recently, Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo.

Rory and her team will be taking over our Instagram tomorrow so we sat down with the designer to learn more about how the line started, what it's like to work with her Mom, and her go to wedding song!

We love Rory Beca and we love Yifat Oren. How did you two decide to get "bridesmaid dress" married?

We have always had a lot of bridesmaids approach us about our gowns under the Rory Beca line. Yifat planned Behati Prinsloo and Adam Levine's wedding. Behati wanted something sexy and unique for her supermodel bridesmaids so Yifat turned to me and the rest is history!

What makes this collection different from your ready to wear line?

Together we decided it would be great to collaborate on a collection specifically for bridesmaids. The colors and shapes of these gowns though are based on what Yifat and I see trending in the wedding fashion world.

Tell us all about Rory Beca! How has the line developed since its inception?

The line started out as one style called the Rizzo that was a tunic that looked great on everyone. From there we did more tops and dresses, and the line eventually developed into a full collection including knits.

What is it like to work with your mom?

Funny at times, but it works great because we have a very open and honest working relationship.

What is the most important to you when designing a collection?

The colors and the fabrics. Each collection always begins with my fabrics and then I go from there.

How has social media influenced your brand?

We are just starting to get really into it believe it or not. We haven't taken full advantage of what social media has to offer a brand like ours. I do love Instagram though. It has been a great way for me to show customers who the Rory Beca girl is.

What is your daily uniform? Must have piece in your closet?

JBrand Jeans and the newest RB blouse and a piece of vintage jewelry.

Favorite "get up and dance" song at a wedding?

'Shook Me All Night Long' by AC/DC. It was my “first dance” with my husband at our wedding so it always gets me excited.

Advice for young women interested in starting their own business?

Don't be afraid to ask questions! When my mom and I started we knew nothing and asked everyone everything. Then you can filter through people's advice and stick with your gut.
