In anticipation of Thursday's Instagram takeover, we chatted with Ariane Goldman, founder and creator of twobirds bridesmaid to get to know a little more about the designer, including inspirations for her classic collection and her newest, the tulle collection!
How did you get started in the Bridesmaid world?
I found the bridesmaid world by sheer will to make my own experience better, actually. I was working in business and in a very corporate environment, and my 2007 wedding actually provided me this extraordinary creative outlet. When I realized that there weren't really bridesmaid dresses out there that were fashion-driven and that women could wear again and feel good in, I started Twobirds. I wanted to conceive a design that could be styled in whatever way felt most beautiful to the wearer (and could accommodate many different body types), and that my customer would want to wear again after her loved one's wedding....killing 'two birds with one stone.'
Do you have any color trend predictions for bridesmaids in 2015?
There is still a love for soft, neutral and pastel tones like we have seen for the past couple of years. And I absolutely love the trend of all white weddings! Bridesmaids in white and ivory make for amazing pictures.
We are very excited about your new tulle gowns! How do they differ from the original jersey dresses?
The tulle collection gives off a more romantic feel as it has a soft tulle overlay that drapes beautifully. The tulle collection keeps with the versatility of the dresses but is perfect for a more formal affair. We were diligent about making sure the tulle was luxe and felt good on the body as comfort and re-wearability is key.
What is your favorite way to wrap dresses?
The beauty of twobirds dresses is that you can decide your favorite style based on your current mood. I tend to rotate between the strapless and the grecian with the twist down the back. That one is a show stopper when walking down the aisle!
Tell us about your maternity line, HATCH!
Based on a similar concept to twobirds, HATCH was created to enable women to invest in pieces that they can wear through all stages of life. HATCH is designed for before, during, and after pregnancy and it's all about draping so that women of all shapes and sizes can feel comfortable wearing pieces that allow them to go the distance.
Any advice for brides after planning your wedding?
I have been married for quite some time now but all I can say is do not stress too much about the details. No one is going to notice. All your guests care about is your chemistry and the love that is in the air. And after your wedding, take a break! Relax and enjoy each other. That is what it is all about.
