Meet the designer! Our Interview with Monique Lhuillier

There are few things more exciting than new dresses arriving in store and having the chance to talk about them with the designer herself. We got to do BOTH with Monique Lhuillier to welcome her Spring 2018 bridesmaids collection into Bellas nationwide and we're still fangirling over it.

Check out our interview below and ask your local Bella about in store events and promos TODAY through September 2!

Designer, Monique Lhuillier

How did you get into the world of weddings?

While working at a small, high-end French Ready-To-Wear company,  I was engaged to my husband and starting to look for a wedding dress.  I decided, because of that search and the struggle to find what I was looking for, to focus on bridal and debut a line once I got married.  That's how I got into bridal, because of my own personal experience.

What is the best career advice you have ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to "find your own balance".  Balance is a very individual thing and everyone has to find their own barometer of what they can or cannot handle.

When did you add bridesmaids to your collection and why?

Bridesmaids was a natural extension of my main bridal line, so it was able to happen organically.  While I started in bridal, I knew I wanted to be a part of the bride's special day throughout all of her needs.

Monique Lhuillier Bridesmaids Spring 2018 dresses are in Bellas now! What was your inspiration for the new collection?

Bridesmaids are now looking for styles that go beyond just the traditional and classic.  I've pulled inspiration from some flattering silhouettes in my fashion lines to make the entire bridal party feel beautiful.

What's new that we should check out?

My new styles bring a classic feel with a modern twist.  They have beautiful silhouettes and new fabrics in sateen and stretch mikado that will complement any needs or desires.

Any tips on how to find the perfect style in the new collection?

Just like what I tell my brides, follow your instinct. Women look their best when they feel comfortable and beautiful and it's all about choosing something that makes one feel confident!

Best advice for recently engaged brides and grooms to be?

Have fun and savor every moment. This is an experience you will treasure for a lifetime.
